Before the Apostle Paul was a follower of Jesus Christ, he (Saul) was a Pharisee, and a mean one at that. However, when the Lord “rocked his world” on his trip to Damascus, this one time Christian killer would never be the same again. You see, Paul at one time was a “success” in the world of the religious. He was an educated leader, wealthy and a zealot for his position. But his conversion experience seemed to wipe away all that he was. Paul writes in Philippians 4:12-13 “I know how to get along with humble means, and I also know how to live in prosperity; in any and every circumstance I have learned the secret of being filled and going hungry, both of having abundance and suffering need. I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.”

Before I went into kindergarten in Cuero, TX, I met a boy there who I never knew would become my friend for life. We not only went to school together, go to the same church together, but we grew up together from Cuero to Lubbock, TX (We were also in each other’s wedding). We both were athletes and played football, however I stayed in football and he played his guitar. All the hours of practice and calluses payed off for him. He went from a young boy from Lubbock to playing lead guitar for the famous Christian rock band Petra. He not only stopped there, he also received a Grammy Award and was inducted into the Rock-n-Roll Hall of fame. He had everything any musician would want-fame, fortune, awards, a beautiful wife and 4 wonderful kids. Yet God had other plans for him.

This past year my friend Pete Orta made one of the greatest leaps of faith that I have seen in a long time. He left his career and opened his home to runaways, rejects, and the group that society calls the outcasts. Pete and Kelli took it upon themselves to become parents to these teens while their 4 kids welcomed the fact that they would be sharing their mom and dad with complete strangers! This incredible ministry is called, In Triumph.

You know, every once in a “blue moon” an epiphany happens that makes you gasp at the mere idea of something great. Yet the ones that accomplish this mission are the ones you would least expect. From Grammy Award winner to servant of the Most High, Pete Orta has truly made me gasp! The Lord’s hand has molded this man to take on a mission that is truly a biblical epiphany. Thus when ministries like In Triumph comes around, the body of Christ must connect with it!

If your church, your family, home Bible study group, RA’s, GA’s, missions ministry and/or you as an individual have been praying as to who to assist financially or in benevolence, allow me to suggest that you consider blessing In Triumph. If you did it to the least of these (outcasts, addicts, pill poppers, gangsters, homeless, parentless, etc), you would have done it as unto the Lord!
